Tasmania 190 state nomination guide
Tasmania's 190 program combines pathway requirements with ROI priority attributes. Local employment and study can matter, but a Gold attribute, occupation shortage or low federal eligibility score is not a blanket guarantee.
The official 2026–27 program opened for ROIs on 17 August 2026, with weekly invitations from 20 August. Each pathway has its own eligibility and priority attributes.
Tasmania's August 2026 opening announcement confirms 1,250 subclass 190 nomination places for 2026–27. This is the annual allocation, not the number still available or visas granted.

Streams and pathways
Tasmanian skilled employment
Check the selected visa's employment minimums and priority attributes. The 2026–27 update changes the Gold employment attribute to require at least 30 hours per week in at least one job; do not use an older 20-hour Gold assumption.
Tasmanian graduates and established residents
These are separate pathways with their own local study, residence, employment and priority evidence. A graduate is not automatically Gold or exempt from ranking.
Offshore health or education job offer
The official opening announcement retains the 190 overseas health/education job-offer pathway. Where the applicant is ineligible for 190 points or their occupation supports only 491, the official pathway page allows consideration for 491, subject to its conditions.
Offshore invitation-only 491
The 2026–27 opening announcement says no invitations are planned for the overseas skilled occupation profiles pathway without a Tasmanian job. This does not close every offshore job-offer pathway.
Key requirements
- Meet the precise local or overseas pathway requirements and Home Affairs' separate visa requirements.
- Claim only priority attributes supported by evidence; these are Tasmania's ranking points, not federal points.
- Skills assessments and English evidence must remain valid at nomination.
- Gold claims are checked independently: the official results page says a failed Gold attribute leads to refusal regardless of total score.
- If any attributes cannot be verified and the adjusted ROI score falls below the published assessment threshold, the nomination may be refused.
How the process runs
Choose the correct 190 or 491 pathway and confirm all minimum requirements.
Prepare the EOI and evidence for every priority attribute.
Submit an ROI through Migration Tasmania's current application portal.
If invited, submit a nomination application with the service fee and complete evidence.
After nomination, respond to the separate Home Affairs invitation.
Before you rely on this
- Tasmanian ROI scores must not be compared with federal SkillSelect scores or Victoria VPT scores.
- The latest verified round below is 15 October 2026; it is not a forecast of the next cutoff.
- The announcement schedules the usual 22 October round for 23 October due to Hobart Show Day; this is a planned date, not a verified completed round.
Fees
The 2026–27 opening announcement states no charge for an ROI. The nomination service fee is $387 excluding GST ($425.70 including GST). Visa charges and other costs are separate.
Invitation data
Official Migration Tasmania results, last updated 15 October 2026. The displayed score is a Tasmanian ROI priority score, NOT federal visa points. The separate rolling three-month assessment threshold is not the same metric as that round's lowest invited score.
